The WCO held a Leadership and Management Development (LMD) Workshop in Harare, Zimbwawe from August 19 to 30, 2013 for managers of the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA). The event was held in the context of the Project "Building Trade Capacity through Customs Modernization" funded by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The senior management of ZIMRA has given the development of its managers a high priority, especially the development of leadership. Hosting the LMD is one of the steps taken by ZIMRA in achieving this goal.

The LMD workshop was attended by twenty highly motivated middle and senior managers and facilitated by WCO facilitators from the revenue administrations of South Africa and the Netherlands. Throughout the event, participants were given an opportunity to explore issues related to strategic management, visioning, change management, negotiations, people management, integrity development and gender equity. During this workshop, special attention was given to the personal development of the participants, as a way to encourage them to develop their individual leadership qualities.
