A delegation of some 30 participants from the National Resilience Institute of the Republic of Indonesia headed by the Lieutenant General (Air Force) Dede Rusamsi, Vice Governor of this Institute, visited the WCO on 2 September 2014, as part of the Institute’s Regular Strategic Study Programme on resilience.
After a welcoming address, the WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya offered congratulations regarding the recent accession of Indonesia to the Revised Kyoto Convention and gave a general presentation on the WCO key instruments to support trade facilitation and ensure protection of society sharing with the audience the key roles played by Customs in global supply chain security. Secretary General Mikuriya also underlined WCO strong involvement in the implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) signed in Bali, Indonesia, in December 2013.
The meeting continued with a technical presentation on the TFA topic and on the WCO Mercator Programme, endorsed by the Council in June 2014, which was developed to respond adequately to Customs’ capacity building and technical assistance needs. The visit ended with a short Q & A session.
