Japanese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance supports WCO’s strategy

The Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Kunio Mikuriya met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Japan, Mr. Taro Aso in Tokyo, Japan on 7 April 2017.

Deputy Prime Minister Aso appreciated WCO’s focus on developing standards, promoting the use of technology and the partnership approach adopted with businesses and other government agencies in providing assistance to Members in discharging a wide range of their responsibilities, including trade facilitation, protection of society and security as well as revenue collection while enhancing the sound financial and human resource basis of the organization.

He reaffirmed his full support to the WCO Management and wished for the continued success of the organization’s activities in the future. Dr. Mikuriya thanked Deputy Prime Minister Aso for his unwavering support to the WCO in financial, human resources and knowledge areas.
