WCO supports National Customs Service of Chile on Strategic Planning Process

02 декабря 2017

At the request of the National Customs Service of Chile (SNA), the World Customs Organization (WCO) conducted a mission, held from 22 November to 1 December 2017 with the objective of providing assistance to develop their strategic plan for the 2018-2022 period.

The mission was developed in three phases. The first stage consisted of a preliminary session through a series of interviews with the Deputy Directors and chiefs of Customs offices in order to review the achievements obtained as a result of the 2014-2018 strategic plan and to identify the goals to be accomplished with the new plan. The second phase consisted of a three-day planning workshop attended by the SNA executives, including the Director General, Mr. Claudio Sepúlveda. The workshop was guided by the facilitators with the aim to define the key elements for the strategic plan, as to provide inputs for the action plans to be followed for the fulfillment of each objective.

The mission concluded with a working session with the planning team, in which the outputs were consolidated, and guidelines were provided regarding the next steps to finalize the preparation of the document, for the development of an operational model and the structure for an operational plan.

The new strategic plan covers aspects of governance, facilitation, control, management of human resources and the relationship of customs with stakeholders. By these means, the Customs of Chile, along with the WCO, affirms its commitment to institutional modernization, contributing to the facilitation and security of international trade.
