The WCO held a National Workshop on the WCO Data Model (WCO DM) from 12 to 16 June 2017 in Karachi, Pakistan with the financial support of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) Fund. The objective of the workshop was to assist the Administration with mapping its Web Based One Customs (WeBOC) system to the WCO DM.
The workshop, organized and facilitated by WCO officials, was attended by seven IT experts representing Pakistan Customs. During the workshop, participants were familiarized with the WCO DM concepts, including its Library and Information Packages.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Wajid Ali, Director of the Directorate of Reforms and Automation (Pakistan Customs), noted the importance of aligning the data requirements of Pakistan Customs with the WCO DM in order to support data harmonization at national level and the subsequent development of a National Single Window. Mr. Ali expressed his appreciation for the support of the WCO and HMRC in making the workshop possible.
The workshop included a working session on mapping the national goods declaration and cargo report to the WCO DM. The result of the mapping was used as the basis to develop the “My Information Package” for Pakistan Customs.
