Under the auspices of the INAMA project (supported by the US State Department, Sweden, GiZ and the CITES Secretariat) the WCO conducted a five-day mission in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) to make in-depth diagnostics about the capacity of the Burkina Faso Customs administration to enforce the CITES Convention. This mission took place from 8th to 12th May 2017. The Institutional Assessment Tool developed under the auspices of the WCO-INAMA project was used to conduct this diagnostic, which was based on the self-assessment conducted by this administration. 

During the mission the WCO Delegation met with relevant officers of Burkina Faso Customs.

Around ten Burkina Faso officers became familiar with the Logical Framework Approach (LFA) by taking part in a workshop where they successfully used this tool to draft a work plan for the further support to be received under the auspices of the INAMA project.

This mission represented an important step in defining the future cooperation between Burkina Faso Customs Administration and the WCO in fighting illegal wildlife trade.
