The WCO conducted a mission in Dar Es Salaam to provide further support on Customs valuation to the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA). The mission took place 14 – 17 February 2017 and was the latest in a series of inputs as part of the project for “Customs Capacity Building for WCO Members 2012-17” which is funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad). The aim of the project is to deliver technical assistance to seven countries in specific areas of Customs operations.
During the mission the WCO Secretariat representative co-facilitated a four day Valuation workshop for TRA Customs officials, together with TRA valuation trainers. The workshop was designed to present a mix of practical and theoretical valuation issues to students fairly new to Customs valuation work, including an overview of the Revenue Package tools. Mentoring was also provided to the TRA trainers who demonstrated good technical knowledge and trainer skills.
