The WCO welcomes the Chairperson of the WTO Trade Facilitation Committee

24 октября 2017

The WCO Secretariat hosted a working lunch at its Headquarters for H.E. Ambassador Daniel Blockert during his visit on 17 October 2017.

He is the Swedish Ambassador to the WTO in Geneva and the current Chairperson of the WTO Trade Facilitation Committee, and was also the keynote speaker during the 8th Meeting of the WCO Trade Facilitation Agreement Working Group (TFAWG).

The lunch, which was also attended by the Chair and Vice-Chair of the TFAWG, was a great opportunity to introduce the Ambassador to the full body of work being undertaken at the WCO, including the specific work being done by the Secretariat’s three Directorates, as well as its Research Unit.

Ambassador Blockert was very appreciative of the vast array of information that was shared, and suggested that the WCO should consider ways to more proactively and dynamically communicate its broad scope of work to other international organizations, the trade community, and the public at large.

The WCO welcomed the opportunity to engage directly with Ambassador Blockert, and looks forward to continued dialogue and collaboration on trade facilitation matters.
