The WCO has published the Agenda for the upcoming WCO PICARD Conference which will take place in Skopje, North Macedonia, from 22 to 24 October 2019.
The WCO is pleased to welcome Mr. Zoran Zaev, Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, to deliver an opening speech at the Conference, demonstrating his commitment to Customs, the PICARD Conference and the hosts–the North Macedonia Customs Administration.
Featured on the Agenda of the 14th edition of the Conference are high-level speakers from a broad spectrum of academic, governmental, and private sector entities and think-tanks, including the World Bank Group, European Commission, international law firms and several universities from: Belgium; Bulgaria; Burundi; Colombia; Italy; Korea; the Netherlands; North Macedonia; the Philippines; Poland; Russian Federation; Switzerland and Uzbekistan.
The PICARD Scientific Board spent June and July reviewing over 100 high-quality submissions received after the PICARD Call for Papers was issued in March 2019. This year we are delighted to welcome presentations from Customs officers from a wide variety of countries, many of which are represented for the first time on the PICARD Agenda. Representatives from Burkina Faso; Indonesia; Jamaica; Nigeria; North Macedonia; South Africa; Sri Lanka; Thailand; Tunisia and Turkey will present their ongoing research on topics such as E-Commerce, trade facilitation and the application of data analysis to Customs processes.
