From November 30th to December 2nd, the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme organized a virtual three-day regional workshop on Advance Rulings (AR), in collaboration with Customs administrations and the private sector in the Spanish-speaking countries of the Americas region.
The workshop, with the attendance of the WCO Deputy Secretary General, a representative of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Regional President of the Private Sector Consultative Group, as well as a counsellor to the World Trade Organization, gathered 70 participants from over 19 countries in Latin America, who were all invited to share their experiences and enhance the knowledge on the AR mechanism.
Through group plenaries and Q&A sessions, the participants had the opportunity to interact with high-level experts from the United States, Brazil, Colombia and Chile, on a vast array of topics related to AR.
The workshop also provided an opportunity for the private sector and Customs administration to work close together and with joint effort elaborate recommendations in order to enhance the implementation of the AR mechanism at a regional level.
