The Strategic Trade Control Enforcement (STCE) Programme carried out an 8 day Train the Trainer workshop for French speaking Countries from 3 to 12 March 2020.
The main goal of the STCE Programme, in line with the WCO Strategic Plan, is the protection of society through the prevention of illicit trafficking of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and related items and the capacity building support to our members is one of the means to achieve it. For this reason, the creation of a multilingual pool of experts in the field is essential to reach and train the widest number of customs officers possible.
After having carried out several Train the Trainer workshops in English, Spanish and Russian, the first French language training took place in Brussels, with the attendance of 15 participants from 13 different member administrations.
The STCE team is now in the process of evaluating the final exams and performance of all participants and will inform every one of their results. Successful participants will become pre-accredited STCE experts and will be invited to participate to an in-field mission to complete their accreditation process. Nonetheless, every customs officer attending the Train the Trainer workshop will have gained sufficient knowledge to be able to deliver trainings for his home Administration and raise awareness on the importance of strengthening capacities in security related matters.
The STCE team is always available to answer any question or request of support, please address them to WCOSecurityProgramme@wcoomd.org.
