The Customs administrations of Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire each organized during the week of November 16 to 20, 2020, a virtual seminar bringing together directors, Customs executives, project managers and Customs agents with the aim to prepare an integrity assessment, based on the 10 key factors of the WCO Revised Arusha Declaration.
After the opening remarks by Customs’ senior management and the Anti-Corruption and Integrity Promotion (A-CIP) Programme, several presentations were made on WCO integrity initiatives, the A-CIP Programme, and on each Customs administration’s strategy and action plan in the field of anti-corruption. Instructions on the use of the WCO Integrity Development Guide (IDG) were also provided.
From December 2020, the mobilized Customs officers’ contributions and proposals will enrich their Customs administration’s A-CIP action plan presenting the priority areas and planned activities in the fight against corruption and the promotion of integrity for the next four years (2021-2024).
The A-CIP Programme, funded by Norad, responds to the high costs of corruption. The Programme aims at improving the business environment for cross-border trade by making changes to the operational and administrative context that restricts corrupt behaviour and promotes good governance in Customs operations and administration.
