Progress of the WCO A-CIP Programme Commended at Formal Steering Committee Meeting

27 октября 2020

The WCO Deputy Secretary General joined representatives from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) for a Formal Steering Committee Meeting of the WCO Anti-Corruption & Integrity Promotion (A-CIP) Programme on 21 October 2020 via video conference to discuss the Programme’s progress and strategy, particularly in light of adaptations made for COVID-19.

Following presentations by the WCO A-CIP Programme Management, the representatives from Norad expressed confidence that the Programme is still on an excellent path to reach its objectives despite the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing WCO A-CIP partner administrations to better fight corruption and promote integrity in line with the Revised Arusha Declaration.

Specifically, the WCO was commended for its adaptability to the current context: converting face-to-face technical assistance and capacity building material to virtual delivery format, and the Programme for having developed a pilot remote assessment package, allowing WCO A-CIP experts to conduct a situational analysis with regards to integrity in the six countries that joined the Programme earlier this year. Also noted was the Programme’s innovative approach to performance measurement utilizing the specifically designed Customs Integrity Perception Survey (CIPS) that was delivered in 10 A-CIP WCO Partner Administrations earlier this year.
