The World Customs Organization organized, with the support of the Customs Cooperation Fund (CCF) China, a virtual National Workshop on Advanced Training on Customs Valuation for Customs Officials of Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The workshop was held online from 22 to 26 March 2021 and was facilitated by a member of the WCO Secretariat and two pre-accredited expert trainers from Finland and Germany. Fourteen participants from different areas of Lao Customs attended the workshop.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department, Mr Canda Sinpaseuth, welcomed the participants and expressed his expectation that the workshop would strengthen the participants’ understanding of the principles of the WTO Valuation Agreement.
During the five-day virtual workshop, the participants explored several aspects of Customs valuation, including the practical application of the transaction value method along with the related adjustments and the alternative valuation methods. They were also introduced to the tools and instruments developed under the Revenue Package. The participants had the opportunity to examine practical cases and to discuss specific valuation issues encountered in their daily practice.
