Following the Customs of Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso, the Directorate General of Customs (DGD) of Niger has made the development of its organizational culture one of its strategic priorities. It is in this context that a virtual workshop was held from 6 to 9 December 2021.
Organised by the WCO Anti-Corruption and Integrity Promotion (A-CIP) Programme, of which Niger Customs are a partner, the workshop was conducted in cooperation with WCO's Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB) for West and Central Africa.
Discussions particularly focused on the components of the organizational culture of Niger Customs and the good practices to be favoured in terms of change management, work organisation and team commitment, in line with the DGD's 2019-2023 Strategic Plan. In this context, the reform and modernisation initiatives described in strategic axis 3 (organizational development and leadership) and strategic axis 4 (strengthening cooperation) were also discussed. The results of the Customs Integrity Perception Survey (CIPS) conducted in Niger in January-February 2021 within the framework of the A-CIP Programme, in particular those relating to the Morale & Organizational Culture factor of the Revised Arusha Declaration, were also discussed.
The WCO A-CPI Programme is currently supporting more than 20 countries in five of the six WCO regions with funding from Norad and Canada. For more information, please, contact capacity.building@wcoomd.org.
