As part of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) activities in Serbia, the WCO held a Risk Management Virtual Workshop for the Customs Administration of Serbia (CAS) from 2 to 5 November 2021. This workshop was delivered under the auspices of the Mercator Programme, focused on building their capacities to develop and implement an all-encompassing risk management framework, establish a risk management committee and enhance their risk register.
With a view to supporting the CAS in strengthening its internal strategy on this topic, this mission allowed the WCO team to carry out an analysis of their current working principles and issue recommendations for establishing a written risk management strategic document aligned with international standards. These milestones will allow the CAS to enhance its inspection effectiveness rate, increase transparency and overall facilitate trade.
This four-day activity was an opportunity for the CAS officials to build their capacities to successfully implement relevant WCO tools and instruments, as well as to become aware of both their strengths and areas of opportunities. Furthermore, the main outcome of this Workshop consisted of a roadmap to enhance CAS’s Risk Management practices.
