From October 4 to 7, 2021, WCO Anti-Corruption and Integrity Promotion (A-CIP) Programme jointly organized with the General Directorate of Customs (DGD) of Côte d'Ivoire a distance learning workshop dedicated to stakeholder engagement.

Facilitated by WCO A-CIP experts in collaboration with WCO Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB) for West and Central Africa, the workshop provided an opportunity for nearly 25 senior officials in key stakeholder relations functions to learn best practices and to share practical information on the Ivorian Customs’ stakeholder engagement strategy and plans.

The results of the Customs Integrity Perception Survey (CIPS) conducted in Côte d'Ivoire early 2021 were also discussed. It was decided that their detailed analysis with recommendations would soon be submitted to the Directorate General for advice and potential action.

During the opening speeches and discussions, various speakers from the Ivorian Customs and the WCO emphasized the strategic importance for the promotion of integrity of a sustained engagement of stakeholders with the DGD. They encouraged participants to foster collective action and to maintain and develop trust with the private sector and other stakeholders.

The WCO A-CIP Programme currently supports more than 20 countries in 5 of the WCO regions, with funding from Norad and Canada.
