An important global event for the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) took place between 8 and 9 February 2022, with the organisation of the very first Virtual Workshop for the Beneficiary Countries of the Global Trade Facilitation Programme.
The GTFP currently counts with 6 fully-fledged beneficiary countries (Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, Uzbekistan, Serbia and Ukraine) and 2 light-touch interventions (Bangladesh and Guatemala). This Workshop was a unique occasion to bring all beneficiary countries together to share their views and exchange experiences, creating new cooperation ties and strengthening the existing ones.
All countries were invited to exchange on the concrete implementation of Strategic Planning, one of the GTFP’s cross-cutting issues. This two-day event, which gathered over 67 participants, including Director Generals and high level officials from Beneficiary Countries and SECO Offices around the world, aimed at providing support to the GTFP Beneficiary Countries to enhance their Strategic Planning skills, as well as a platform to showcase lessons learned and promote the exchange of best practices, challenges and opportunities within the different Customs Administrations on that topic.
Thanks to the support of WCO experts, the panels offered an opportunity to analyze the results-based management in Customs as well as the strategic implementation of trade facilitation measures, while enhancing cooperation among the GTFP Beneficiary Countries.
As a result of this workshop, the GTFP Team will prepare concrete recommendations that will help Customs Administrations throughout the planning and evaluation process.
