On June 28 2022, the Customs Administration of Colombia (DIAN), with the support of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), organized a Trade Facilitation Forum titled “How the World visualizes the Customs of the Future”.
The main purpose of the activity was to share best international practices in trade facilitation, as well as, a vision of the future of Customs in the world.
The forum was conceived as a hybrid meeting, gathering around 200 participants from the different Customs Sections throughout Colombia and the National Private Sector Community. This occasion also served as an opportunity to launch the newly developed Trade Facilitation and Foreign Trade Services Deputy Directorate of DIAN.
During the event, the participants analyzed concrete examples of the impact of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement on National competitiveness and best practices on Customs Reform and Modernization process in Abu Dhabi. In addition, the WCO officers and experts shared important insights on disruptive technologies and the future of Customs. This information will be useful to support DIAN’s ongoing Customs transformation process.
