From 8 to 9 June 2022, the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) team conducted a follow-up mission to the Customs Administration of Serbia (CAS), aiming to validate the progress achieved in the implementation of the GTFP during its first year and to finetune the assistance going forward.
This mission sets an important milestone for the Programme as the activities in Serbia were initiated during the COVID-19 Pandemic and this was the first face-to-face interaction with the CAS management and the technical teams. The GTFP team, collaboratively with the lead officials in the respective areas under the Programme, reviewed the country’s progress pertaining to trade facilitation and organizational development components.
Important progress has been recorded on enhancing risk management effectiveness through updated risk registry and comprehensive risk management framework, on establishing a risk management committee. Going forward, the Programme will continue to provide further the assistance on enhancing the Authorized Economic Operator programme and the competency-based Human Resource Management through improved HR evaluation practices.
Also, within this mission, the GTFP had the opportunity to meet with the National Committee on Trade Facilitation to discuss possible synergies and identified opportunities for coordination of activities specifically with regards to private sector engagement.
