The SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) team undertook a mission to the Customs Administration of Colombia (DIAN, for its Spanish acronym) from 22-24 March 2022, with the aim to follow-up on the progress achieved by DIAN within the GTFP, review the scheduled activities for the years 2022 and 2023, as well as review and coordinate with the Colombian National Trade Facilitation Committee to identify potential areas for further support.
On its third year of implementation, important progress has been recorded, where DIAN has managed to issue their second Time Release Study with important reductions on its clearance processing time, a 5% increase on its risk management effectiveness and overall strengthening of their national strategy with the implementation of 22 Key Performance Indicators.
A series of meetings were held with the Customs Administration, as well as with key stakeholders with from the Public and Private Sector that allowed the GTFP team to identify next steps of the cooperation, as well as new areas of support for the upcoming years, focused on working hand in hand with the business community for increasing their access to trade facilitation benefits.
For further review a Mercator follow-up mission is being planned to assess their progress with regards to Colombia’s compliance with the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.
