From 24 to 28 October 2022, within the framework of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), the WCO delivered a 5-day workshop on Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) for the National Customs of Bolivia (AN).
The workshop, held in La Paz, focused on developing the capacities of the Customs officers and other stakeholders on the AEO, allowing them to identify and analyze areas of opportunity a decade after launching Bolivia’s AEO Programme.
Customs Administrations around the world are very engaged in enhancing their capacity to implement the AEO, as it has become a flagship that gives the opportunity to expand security responsibilities with the private sector while at the same time rewarding them with additional facilitation benefits.
Tapping from the lessons learned from the programme's decade-long existence, and with the WCO experts' assistance, the participants were able to develop an AEO Enhancement Plan and a Communications Strategy that will allow the Bolivian AEO to increase its success and enlarge its outreach.
