From 22 to 25 August 2022, a Leadership Management Development (LMD) Top Executive Retreat (TER) was held for Maldives Customs Administration (MCS) in support of their Mercator Implementation Plan recommendation. Commissioner General of Customs, Mr. Abdulla Shareef and the members of his top executive team benefitted from this tailor-made activity addressed to the current needs, requirements, and main challenges of the MCS, which were assessed based on the responses to a questionnaire.
The workshop focused on three levels: organizational development to tackle some of the key strategic challenges faced by MCS administration; executive team building to strengthen trust and openness amongst the team, understanding self and other better through honest, sincere and constructive feedback; and Personal leadership, management development and commitment.
The Commissioner General was very appreciative of the quality of dialogues, exercises, concepts and theories of modern leadership and management presented, and in his closing remarks addressed his top executive team saying: My colleagues, I would like us to start as soon as we get back from this Saturday onwards to implement what we have learned from this workshop. Every one of us has a task to ensure that by World Customs Day we have a solid plan. Let us work together as a team for better Customs and the implementation of our Strategic Plan”.
