As part of their ongoing efforts under the WCO Anti-Corruption & Integrity Promotion (A-CIP) Programme, a five-day follow-up workshop on risk management was conducted from 10 to 15 December 2023 in Tegucigalpa, with the participation of a team of 20 officials from risk management, intelligence and post clearance. This activity was tailored to address the specific needs identified by the Honduras Customs Administration.
Experts from Brazil’s Federal Revenue (Receita Federal) and the A-CIP Programme facilitated this follow-up workshop at Honduras Customs Headquarters. The approach placed emphasis on combining open-source information, intelligence, and internal data from the Customs system to assess low- and high-risk shipments and commodities. This dynamic combination of resources ensured that Customs officials were better prepared to tackle current and emerging risk challenges.
At the same time, the WCO A-CIP Programme experts conducted three half-day sessions, with the participation of 25 officials representing different areas of the Administration, on building an Integrity Strategy for the Honduras Customs Administration. With the Revised Arusha Declaration as the main tool for this workshop, participants showed a high level of commitment and support to creating this strategy. The creation of this strategy is part of the Sustainability Plan the WCO A-CIP Programme has with the Honduras Customs Administration.
The WCO A-CIP Programme is currently supporting more than 20 countries across five WCO regions, significantly impacting the Customs community worldwide. It receives funding from Norad and Canada and focuses on anti-corruption and integrity promotion in Customs administrations.
