22 июня 2023

From 5 to 9 June 2023, within the framework of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), WCO experts carried out a workshop on Risk Management (RM) for the Mongolian Customs General Administration (MCGA) in Ulaanbaatar. The 5-day mission focused on following up on the implementation of the risk-based Customs control strategy, monitoring the progress achieved in developing the data governance strategy and the risk management working principles for Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) related goods.

During the activity, the WCO experts led the Customs officials in practical exercises and discussions to identify opportunities for enhancing their targeting capabilities and ensuring the implementation of the risk management plan. Furthermore, the experts set out the latest trends at the WCO Secretariat in the future direction and development of Risk Management. A specific session was dedicated to discussing the lessons learned from the Study Visit to the Australian Border Force (ABF) conducted from 17 to 21 April 2023 under the auspices of the SECO-WCO GTFP.

The approval and adoption of the RM plan developed and finalized during this workshop are expected to contribute to the effective implementation of the Risk-Based Customs Control Strategy and related strategic documents in line with the latest WCO developments, trends, and international best practices.
