From 5 to 9 June 2023, the World Customs Organization (WCO), within the framework of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), conducted a capacity building mission to provide technical assistance to the Customs Administration of Peru (SUNAT) in the implementation of Time Release Study (TRS).

During the 5-day mission, the WCO experts supported the Peruvian TRS team in enhancing their capabilities on the WCO TRS Methodology at every stage, reviewing customs and logistics procedures, and providing training on WCO TRS Software. As a result, the Peruvian Authorities were able to carry out the TRS Pilot successfully and will continue the work to complete their national TRS in late June 2023.

SUNAT is committed to assessing the efficacy of international trade operations to identify bottlenecks in the commercial flow process and undertake the corresponding policy and operational measures needed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of border procedures, without compromising efficient trade control, in accordance with Article 7.6.1 of the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA).
