Within the framework of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), the new WCO training material on Customs Staff Well-Being and Resilience was piloted from 6 to 10 November 2023 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The training material was developed with the support of the SECO-WCO GTFP, aiming to guide Members in effectively implementing a holistic well-being programme and building staff resilience. The overall goal is to address the growing need to embed a focus on employee well-being into Customs administrations’ day-to-day operations and processes, culture, and leadership to thrive in today’s environment.
As a result of the workshop, the training material was successfully piloted, equipping the participants with the competencies, tools, and methods to effectively implement a holistic well-being programme and build their staff’s and organizational resilience.
Sixteen senior and middle managers from the Customs General Administration of Mongolia (CGAM) participated in the workshop, during which they successfully shifted their focus to adopting an integrated and holistic approach to achieving organizational objectives while meeting employee needs and preferences and tackling systemic barriers, and developed an initial Customs Staff Well-being Programme, including an implementation action plan.
The World Customs Organization (WCO) and the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) wish to express their gratitude to the Customs General Administration of Mongolia for their invaluable collaboration in piloting the new training material, soon to be available for all interested Member Customs Administrations.
