On 3 and 4 October 2023, within the framework of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP), the Customs Administration of the Netherlands hosted a delegation from the Customs Administration of Serbia (CAS) for a study visit in the area of Risk Management.
This study visit allowed the CAS to learn from the good practices of the Customs Administration of the Netherlands in the implementation and application of risk management in Customs control, best practices in targeting operations, and the use of technology and analytical capabilities.
During the study visit, the CAS delegation visited the National Targeting Center in Rotterdam and the Customs Schiphol Cargo in Amsterdam and gained comprehensive knowledge both in theory and practice on the working method of central risk management at the Dutch Customs, the uniform policy implementation and effective coordination with the regional offices.
The participants observed the practice of risk weighting, assessing and processing risk signals, and progress monitoring of the developments resulting from the signals. The Dutch Customs shared their valuable experience in developing artificial intelligence, auto-detection, and data-driven enforcement.
The WCO and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) wish to convey their deep gratitude to the Customs Administration of the Netherlands for their steadfast support and invaluable collaboration, which played a pivotal role in the remarkable success of this knowledge-sharing initiative.
