From August 29 to 31, 2023, the WCO conducted a follow-up mission on the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme for the Bolivian Customs Administration in La Paz, Bolivia, within the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP) framework.
The primary objective of this 3-day workshop was to assess and build upon the progress achieved in enhancing the Bolivian AEO Programme. It sought to provide recommendations aimed at optimizing the programme's effectiveness and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
During the course of the technical assistance, participants actively engaged in revising the AEO Plan and its Communications Strategy. Working collaboratively with WCO experts, they formulated recommendations to maximize both the current results of the AEO Programme and its potential for sustainable growth in the future.
Since the inception of the comprehensive GTFP support in Bolivia, the Customs Administration has diligently worked on enhancing its AEO Programme. This effort has led to significant milestones in establishing safer supply chains and sharing security responsibilities with the private sector.
Over the past four years, the Customs Administration has achieved noteworthy progress, including doubling the number of AEO operators. Furthermore, it has strengthened its AEO Plan and developed its Communication Strategy.
