Director of the SECI Center visits the WCO

On the occasion of the 29th Session of the WCO Enforcement Committee, Director of the SECI Center (Southeast Europe Cooperative Initiative - Regional Center for Combating Trans-border Crime), Gürbüz Bahadır, visited the WCO Secretariat on 4 March 2010.
Mr. Bahadır informed the WCO Secretariat that the SECI Center will transform itself into SELEC (Southeast European Law Enforcement Center) once the new agreement, which was signed in December 2009, is ratified.
Bearing in mind the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the WCO and the SECI Center in 2005, several issues of mutual interest were discussed with a view to enhancing existing cooperation.
Secretary General of the WCO, Kunio Mikuriya, stated that the WCO Secretariat would continue to support regional initiatives under the SECI umbrella in the fight against all types of crime.
The SECI Center brings together Customs and police authorities from 13 member countries in Southeast Europe.
