Spanish Customs promotes collaboration with its stakeholders

At the invitation of the Director General of Spanish Customs, the WCO Deputy Secretary General, Sergio Mujica, visited Spain from 27-28 January 2012, to participate in an event organized by Customs to promote collaboration with its stakeholders and to recognize Customs officers who have contributed to the improvement of Customs’ performance.

Spain’s Secretary of Finance, Miguel Ferre, a former Customs officer, highlighted the key role played by Customs in revenue collection, trade facilitation and supply chain security. The ceremony was also attended by the newly appointed Head of the Spanish Revenue Authority, Beatriza Viana, by the Ambassadors of Colombia, France and the United States, and by many other high level representatives from both the public and private sector.

Deputy Secretary General Mujica also visited the Port of Barcelona to review the latest developments and procedures applied in the port and to discuss the new challenges and opportunities for ports on the Mediterranean Sea.
