At the invitation of the Dominican Republic’s Director General of Customs, Rafael Camilo, the WCO Deputy Secretary General, Sergio Mujica, attended the launch of the Dominican Republic’s AEO Programme in Santo Domingo on 21 and 22 March 2012.
The ceremony was also attended by the Director General of Guatemalan Customs and Vice-Chair of the WCO Americas and Caribbean region, as well as representatives from US Customs and Border Protection, Spanish Customs, the Inter-American Development Bank, and authorities from various border agencies.
The Deputy Secretary General also visited Customs, where he met with the management team and staff to discuss latest WCO developments and various initiatives the Dominican Republic is implementing as part of its continuing modernization programme.
Mr. Mujica also participated in a working meeting with the private sector, where he made a presentation on the Customs-Business partnership.
