The Asia Pacific Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB A/P) was established in 2004 in Bangkok, Thailand, as the first ROCB in the world, to provide quality support related to capacity building of the Asia Pacific regional customs administrations. Since then, ROCB A/P has been working with Asia Pacific regional customs administrations, the WCO Secretariat, Regional Training Centers as well as a number of Development Partners to achieve the objectives.
In Mid March, ROCB A/P welcomed a new WCO technical attaché from Hong Kong Customs, Mr. WONG Kai-wah (James). He is actually the second officer supported by Hong Kong Customs for the ROCB A/P. His previous colleague, Mr. WONG Yuk-chuen (Kelvin), successfully completed his secondment last year. The attachment of these two officers has shown the strong commitment of Hong Kong Customs to capacity building activities in the Asia Pacific region. The period of attachment to ROCB A/P of the newcomer is two years. With his expertise and profound knowledge on a number of customs issues including IPR, one of the focuses of ROCB A/P activities, ROCB A/P is expecting to further strengthen its ability to provide quality support to the Customs administrations in the Asia Pacific Region.
