WCO Workshop on Customs Valuation was held in Tajikistan

From 5 to 7 August 2013 in Dushanbe, was hosted a three-day workshop of the World Customs Organization (WCO) on the customs value for the officials of the customs service of Tajikistan. All expenses for the seminar (experts' travel and accommodation, translation) were covered by the Europe Regional Office for Capacity Building in Baku.

The Workshop was intended for Customs specialists responsible for the implementation and application of the WTO Valuation Agreement. The purpose of this Workshop was to strengthen the knowledge of Customs valuation and provide further assistance with the challenges posed in effective implementation of the WTO Valuation Agreement. The Workshop was also intended to provide support for the WCO’s Revenue Package initiative.

In this seminar as experts participated Mr. Leonardo Macedo from the WCO Secretariat and Ms. Lissette Nonalaya Aranda from the WTO Geneva-based Institute for Training and Technical Co-operation. From the participants' side, the seminar was attended by about 30 officials from customs service of Tajikistan.

As the result of the workshop participants expressed their interest for further cooperation in the use of tools of the WCO and WTO in the process of customs administration.
