A Leadership and Management Development (LMD) Workshop was conducted by the World Customs Organization (WCO) in Guangzhou, China, from 5-15 November, 2012. The workshop was delivered to 15 senior managers from various areas of China Customs Administration, and was facilitated by Mr. Daniel Perrier, WCO Secretariat and Mr. Rob Jansen, Dutch Tax and Customs.

The LMD workshop provided support to the capacity building of Customs managers to enable them to contribute effectively to the reform and modernization of their administration, by developing their leadership qualities and managerial skills. The participants were exposed to relevant aspects of leadership, visioning, people management, delegation, motivation, negotiations, communications, change management, and decision-making.

Realizing the significance of the Leadership and Management Development, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) had expressed its gratitude to the WCO for its support. The WCO hopes to continue to work with China Customs in developing a sustainable approach to training managers on a larger scale within the administration.
