09 二月 2015

The WCO in cooperation with Lebanese Customs organized a Risk Management/Assessment Workshop in Beirut, Lebanon from 19 to 22 January 2015 with the participation of 20 customs officers from Headquarters and field-level offices.

The workshop, organized under the sponsorship of the WCO Customs Cooperation Fund (CCF) Japan, focused on the adoption of an integrated holistic approach to implementing risk management taking into consideration both organizational and operational levels. It also emphasized the relationships between risk-based targeting and effective resource allocation, facilitation and controls.

Many topics have been covered during the four day workshop including organizational aspects of risk management, risk assessment, profiling and targeting and information and intelligence. Syndicate group work and practical exercises have also been conducted to facilitate learning among participants.

The workshop proceedings were enhanced by discussions and case studies so the participants may better understand how to identify and address risks as well as how to develop an effective profile by using the methodology explained in the WCO Customs Risk Management Compendium. Participants were also provided with an overview of other related WCO tools contained in the Compliance and Enforcement Package.
