The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD), in its capacity as current Vice-Chair for the WCO Asia/Pacific Region, hosted the 24th RCP Meeting in Langkawi, Malaysia from 18 to 20 November 2014.
The Meeting was attended by 49 delegates from 21 Asia/Pacific Members and four international/regional bodies, namely the World Customs Organization (WCO), the WCO Asia/Pacific Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB A/P), the WCO Regional Intelligence Liaison Office for Asia and the Pacific (RILO A/P) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Meeting was officiated by the Director General of Malaysia Customs, Mr. Dato’ Sri Khazali Ahmad.
The Meeting reviewed and discussed issues such as "The Future of the Regional Steering Group and Regional Contact Points Meetings", "Customs Anti-Drug Strategy" and "Inclusion of Appropriate Private Sector Groups at Future Regional Heads Conferences". It also held further deliberations on the "Proposed Review of Terms of Reference for the Private Sector Consultative Group (PSCG)".
Finally, on the Vice-Chair’s initiative, the Meeting was reminded about the upcoming 16th Regional Heads of Customs Administration (RHCA) Conference scheduled to be held back-to-back with the Integrity Dialogue in Melbourne, Australia on 5 and 6 February 2015.
