The Minister of China Customs, Mr. Yu Guangzhou, met with WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya on 29 June 2015 to discuss areas of future cooperation.
China proposed to work with the WCO on the implementation of the One Belt One Road initiative which had been approved at the Silk Road Forum held in Xi’an at the end of May 2015. The focus in this respect would be on transit and on mutual recognition of Authorized Economic Operators.
Cooperation would also be enhanced in the enforcement area, and further support for implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement would be forthcoming from China through its contribution to the Customs Cooperation Fund.
Secretary General Mikuriya expressed the Organization’s appreciation for China’s support and looked forward to continued cooperation between China Customs and the WCO.
Both Minister Yu and the Secretary General welcomed the opportunity to meet and discuss topics of mutual interest and importance.
