President of Nigeria meets with WCO Delegation

At the invitation of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Heads of delegation attending the WCO Regional Meeting of West and Central Africa were received at the Presidential Palace in Abuja on 30 April 2015.

Recognizing the important role that Customs plays as an institution which is essential for the functioning of a State, President Jonathan encouraged the Heads of Customs administrations in the region to improve Customs efficiency and effectiveness in order to ensure economic growth and border security.

Recalling the President’s opening address at the WCO Council Sessions in 2012 and his strong political support for Nigerian Customs modernization, WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya thanked the President for his continuous support and encouragement for Customs administrations around the world.
