Following a request for capacity building in the area of effective revenue assurance, the WCO conducted a Regional Workshop on Post-Clearance Audit (PCA) for the North of Africa, Near and Middle East Region in Doha, Qatar from 10 to 14 May 2015. The workshop was supported by Qatar Customs.
This workshop was aimed to make better understand the requirements for an effective implementation of PCA in line with the WCO PCA Guidelines. Ten policy makers / auditors representing Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, and United Arab Emirates Customs Administrations attended the workshop. During the workshop, the participants learned about the PCA concept as well as the techniques required for the audit.
The workshop provided more insights through exercises on risk-based targeting methods. The participants were encouraged to bring back their knowledge gained during the workshop to their Administrations and to align their current PCA systems and supporting legislations with the WCO recommended good practices.
