Under the auspices of the WCO INAMA project (funded by the CITES Secretariat, GiZ, Sweden and the US Department of State) a Basic Intelligence Training course on CITES was held in Yaounde (Cameroon) from 19 to 23 October 2015. This event was hosted by the Customs Administration of Cameroon, funded by Sweden, and attended by officers from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Togo and the WCO Regional Intelligence Liaison Office (RILO) for Central Africa.
The training focused on the intelligence cycle and aimed at supporting the participants in modernizing the targeted practices of their administrations by building intelligence capabilities related to illegally-traded wildlife products. In addition, the training also focused on strengthening collaboration with other national agencies and stakeholders involved in the fight against the illegal trade of wildlife products through discussions facilitated by representatives from the NGO TRAFFIC and the French Embassy to Cameroon.
