Regional Security Workshop held in Pretoria, South Africa

14 十月 2016

One of the six Regional Workshops, under the WCO Security Programme, was held in Pretoria, South Africa, for the East and Southern Africa Region (ESA), from 12 to 14 October 2016.

This important Workshop, hosted by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), was formally opened by Mr. Siphithi Sibeko, Executive Officer, International Relations, SARS, and was attended by 24 participants from 18 countries of the ESA Region.

This three-day event is a follow-up to the WCO Security Programme Strategic Seminar that was held at the WCO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, in June of this year, and provides WCO Members of the region with an update on the WCO Security Programme activities.   Furthermore, this Workshop encourages an open dialogue and consultations on their security related training and capacity building needs.

The next Regional Security Workshops are scheduled to take place in Brasilia, Brazil, for the Americas/Caribbean Region, from 21 to 23 November 2016, and in Amman, Jordan, for the North of Africa, Near and Middle East Region (MENA), from  9 to 11 January, 2017.
