Under the framework of the WCO ESA Project II funded by the Finnish Government, the WCO delivered an e-Learning mission at the Kenya Regional Training Centre (RTC) in Mombasa on the 2nd to 4th April 2018. The aim of this mission was to integrate the WCO e-Learning modules through blended learning in the Customs training programmes at the Kenya Revenue Authority.
Building sustainable capacity is one of the priorities within the WCO-ESA Project II and supporting the adoption of the WCO TFA related e-Learning modules further increases the capacity of the RTC Mombasa to take ownership of their own and regional Customs modernization and development agenda.
A dedicated expert supported Kenya RTC with the installation and set-up of the national e-Learning platform, and also provided a train-the-trainers session to introduce the new platform as well as the WCO e-Learning modules mainly those relevant to the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement. The mission also covered the approach towards blended learning using both e-learning material and face to face sessions. The WCO RTC Kenya is now ready to pilot a Refresher Customs course on the new e-Learning platform through the use of the WCO e-Learning modules. An official launch ceremony was held in the presence of the Chief Guest, the Customs Chief Manager for Customs Freight Station in Mombasa.
