Training of Trainers workshop for ESA Members held at RTC Kenya 19-23rd February 2018

08 三月 2018

The WCO held a regional Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop from 19-23 February at the Regional Training Center (RTC) in Mombasa, Kenya.  The purpose of the workshop was to enable Customs officers as expert trainers in the Economic Competitiveness Package.   The workshop was funded by the Finnish government under the WCO-ESA Project II.

The workshop covered ESA training standards and efficient facilitation skills with an objective to develop a regional pool of skilled trainers who will then disseminate high-quality training in their respective administrations and the ESA region as a whole.  It also included learning about the Tripartite Agreement concluded between the Regional Economic Communities COMESA, SADC and EAC. A second workshop dealing with the more technical aspects of the Economic Competitiveness package will be held at a later date.

The session was facilitated by three experienced facilitators from Mauritius Revenue Authority, South African Revenue Service and a regional expert from the WCO ESA project II. The workshop was delivered using the ToT training material recently developed by the WCO WACAM Project.

The participants prepared and made presentations during the workshop after which they received individual feedback on their performance.  Over the next few months and prior to their engagement in the next workshop, participants will be expected to utilize their newly acquired skills which will be evaluated and measured afterwards.  Feedback on their training practice and performance will be provided by their respective Customs Administrations.
