The annual REVIEW OF DRUG SEIZURES AT AIRPORTS AND MAIL CENTERS is one of the main products in a long-term collaboration between the RILO Western Europe and the Council of Europe – Pompidou Group. The analysis contained in the report is based on the collection of data from the WCO Customs Enforcement Network (CEN). The report aims to identify new trends and practices in drug trafficking that provide important information for the daily work of LEA officials at airports / post centers and in intelligence services.
In 2019, members of the Airports Group reported a total of nearly 18 tons of illegal drugs of all kinds - seized in mail centres and in the passenger channel at airports. In 61% of all reported cases, the illegal substances were seized in postal items.
