From 8-19 February 2021, the WCO delivered a three-day virtual national workshop in Strategic Planning for the Customs Administration of Bolivia (AN). This activity was organized under the umbrella of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme (GTFP).
As a follow-up to the WCO Mercator Diagnostic and Action Plan activities initiated in 2020, the main objective of this mission was to readjust and confirm the roadmap to the establishment of the 2022-2026 multi-year plan, while increasing the understanding on Strategic Planning methodology within the AN.
These sessions led to fruitful discussions, aiming at identifying the main outcomes and lessons learned during the implementation of previous Strategic Plans and with a view to enhance the development of the upcoming multi-year plan. This three-day workshop also saw the participation of the Executive President of AN, along with her technical team, thereby confirming the political will to push the initiative forward at the highest level.
At the end of the workshop, the experts have issued recommendations and next steps have been identified in order to establish the 2022-2026 AN Strategic Plan, in line with Bolivia’s national objectives. This workshop was the first of a series of activities focused on enhancing the strategic planning process of the AN, identified as one the key areas of support to be undertaken by the GTFP.
