From 9 to 20 May 2022, participants in the 82nd WCO Fellowship Programme met at the World Customs Organization (WCO) Headquarters in Brussels for a face-to-face workshop dedicated to Leadership and Management Development.
This workshop follows the first part of the Fellowship Programme delivered online in September and October 2020. This second component has enabled the participants to hone their skills and deepen their knowledge, in order to contribute more fully to the development and modernization processes of their respective administrations.
The Fellows were exposed to the principles of modern leadership and management through a series of interactive exercises and introspection that gave them a better understanding of themselves. This modern, leader-manager style focuses on developing others by managing people through a human-centric approach, while at the same time remaining highly demanding with respect to output and results.
During the workshop, the Fellows were also able to interact among themselves as well as with experts from the WCO Secretariat, thus enriching their experiences and building a strong professional network.
A field study trip to observe operational practices within a partner administration will be scheduled at a later date and will complete the full experience of the 82nd WCO Fellowship Programme.
Thanks to the financial support of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, the following countries benefitted from this edition of the WCO Fellowship Programme: Armenia, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Cameroon, Gambia, Georgia, Iran, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mongolia, Nigeria, Philippines, Tanzania and Thailand.
