The World Customs Organization organized a national training workshop on Customs valuation from 17 to 21 April 2023 for the benefit of the Customs Administration of Nepal with the support of the Customs Cooperation Fund of China.

Twenty nine Customs officials participated in the workshop held in Kathmandu which was facilitated by experts from the WCO Secretariat and Korea Customs Service.

The five-day program featured refresher training sessions on the provisions of the WTO Customs Valuation Agreement (Agreement), as well as presentations on key technical valuation topics such as transaction value, related party transactions, adjustments to the price actually paid or payable, and alternative valuation methods.

Customs valuation control initiatives under the WCO Practical Guidelines for Valuation Control, including the use of valuation database, advance ruling and PCA, were also discussed at the workshop.

Participants engaged in active discussions and analysis of various case studies to enhance their understanding of the Agreement and its practical and proper implementation.  Additionally, national experiences were shared to help strengthen the Customs valuation control mechanism.
