Jordan Customs Department and Palestine Customs reinforce their Internal Affairs capacity

26 五月 2023

From 21-24 May 2023, following a series of virtual workshops on internal affairs, key staff from the Customs administrations of Jordan and Palestine came together at the WCO Regional Training Centre (RTC), in Amman, to learn more from WCO experts and other Members, and from each other, regarding strengthening the internal affairs function in a Customs context.

This activity aimed at both administrations further developing their Internal Affairs capacity around three essential processes: Corruption, misconduct or malpractice reporting; Administrative investigation and; Discipline.

The approach allowed the participants to identify some gaps and challenges of their respective internal affairs processes and procedures, but most importantly, to benefit from best practices sharing by the experts from Mauritius and the United States.

The principle of collective action for results was emphasized throughout the week by bringing together participants from different areas around a common goal and having neighbouring Customs administrations collaborate and share views and perspectives.

The WCO Anti-Corruption & Integrity Promotion (A-CIP) Programme supports more than 20 WCO Member administrations, with funding from Norad and Canada. For more information, please contact: capacity.building@wcoomd.org.
