International Shipsuppliers & Services Association meets at WCO headquarters

Brussels, 15 April 2010

Report

The International Shipsuppliers & Services Association (ISSA) held its Board Meeting at WCO headquarters on 15 April 2010 under the chairmanship of Mr. Jens Olsen, ISSA’s President.

WCO Secretary General, Kunio Mikuriya, welcomed the Board members and stated, “With nearly 2000 ship suppliers throughout the world and your goods and services found in every major port, ISSA is clearly a major player in the efficient operation of the international supply chain. I welcome the nexus between our two organizations in fostering an authorized supply chain, as embodied in the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards. I see this as an opportunity to advance the Customs-Business partnership in a transparent regulatory environment, where information is shared to improve compliance and smooth the flow of legitimate trade.”

During the meeting, the Board discussed the synergy between ISSA’s Quality and Industry Standard and the WCO Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) concept.
